1. Welcome to the launch of the MIA-ACCA Business and Economic Outlook Report 2019.

2. As a national accounting body in Malaysia that is committed to nation building, MIA advocates the accounting profession as a trusted business advisor in their organisation. One key component of trust is where decision making is based on data. And for this reason, MIA is delighted to collaborate with ACCA on the survey of nearly 400 accountants and financial professionals in the Malaysian market. Thank you to ACCA Malaysia.

3. This survey is the first of its kind that focuses on the perspectives of leading accountants or finance professionals on the economic landscape and critical factors impacting business performance in Malaysia. Our survey respondents comprise of key advisors and decision-makers.

4. In addition to facilitating decision making process, we envisage for the report to be a reference point for potential foreign investors as well as stimulate discussion and engagement with multiple stakeholders.

5. We also hope that it will facilitate further discussion on the development of pragmatic solutions and strategies that will effectively address some of the challenges faced by businesses in this country. Shortly, you will hear from Dr. Nurmazilah Mahzan on the findings and perspective of the survey.

6. We are honoured that YB Dr Radzi Jidin, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs could be with us today to speak on the country’s economic development policies and outlook. Thank you for making time to share the Government’s viewpoints today, Dr Radzi.

7. MIA hopes that everybody will benefit from today’s programme, which will end with a panel session where our expert speakers will discuss the survey findings further. Ultimately, we hope that the survey findings will provide useful insights for strategic decision-making and policy-making to support the nation-building agenda.

Thank you.
