Participants in the Roundtable Discussion with Employers share their views on outlook of the accountancy profession
The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) organised a Roundtable Discussion with Employers on “The Outlook of The Accounting Profession in Malaysia” involving participants from banking, private firms, government agencies, and education sector.
Agendas of the day covered Introduction on CSAP Recommendations, Demand and Supply of Accountants, Skill Sets Required by Accountants, and Next Steps; in Preparing Accountants of The Future.
During her presentation to the audience, MIA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nurmazilah Dato' Mahzan shared her thoughts on the impending challenge facing the profession where other industries have experienced how data analytics and artificial intelligence contributed vital changes and rendered certain job functions obsolete at the same time.
In response to the theme of the roundtable discussion, participants shared their feedback and expectations of future accountants. IT literacy was one of the key skill set required from an employer in the near future along with enhanced decision making using data analytics.
Held in Sasana Kijang Bank Negara, the session was attended by close to 50 participants.
