Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Mokhtar Shares His Thoughts on the Role of Accountants

The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) marks its 50th Anniversary of its establishment on 30th September this year. To celebrate its Golden Anniversary, the MIA are hosting three 50th Anniversary Commemorative Lectures, which are presented by iconic MIA members.

The second 50th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture features YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Mokhtar, Managing Director, Khazanah Nasional Berhad, who would be sharing his thoughts on the topic Accountability & Sustainability: The Role Of Accountants.

The MIA president Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi said celebrating the milestone of our 50th anniversary for a day or a week is not sufficient. Therefore, the celebration is spanned over a few months as a means of appreciating the contributions made by our stakeholders and MIA members who have been the pillars of our strength for the past five decades.

“The MIA’s 50th anniversary celebrations are centred on a journey towards the three core values of the accountancy profession – Integrity, Accountability and Trust,” he added.

At the event, Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Mokhtar was presented with an appreciation memento in the form of a glass sculpture designed and created by renowned artist and sculptor, Raja Azhar Idris. The MIA had specifically selected the designer and memento as part of the Institute’s efforts in supporting Malaysian artisans.

The first 50th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture, which was held on 10 April 2017 featured YBhg Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Group Chairman, Permodalan Nasional Berhad, who shared his personal experiences, thoughts and ideas on the topic Integrity: The Game Changer.
