MANAGER – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

(SPECIAL EVENTS & PARTNERSHIPS UNIT)

 

The successful candidate will work with the Team Lead and be responsible to produce and manage public seminars, mini conferences and special educational events for the accounting fraternity and corporate executives, which will include, inter alia; planning, undertaking research on topics, securing speakers, project budgeting, and overall project management.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Studies/Accountancy or other related discipline
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience
  • Exposure/understanding of the accountancy industry/profession in broad perspective would be an added advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be committed, accountable, meticulous, and a team player
  • High degree of self-motivation, results oriented and able to work independently

MANAGER – FINANCIAL REPORTING & ASSURANCE

 

The successful candidates will assist the Head, Financial Reporting & Assurance in managing the Public Sector Accounting Committee (PSAC) activities, providing technical support to the Institute, its Council and members and handling relevant technical matters affecting the Institute.

 

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification or a Degree in Accountancy and a member of MIA
  • At least 5 years of audit experience, and must be in current employment as a Manager with a major or medium size firm of accountants
  • Possess depth knowledge in Accounting Standards, i.e. MFRS, FRS, PERS & MPERS
  • Possess knowledge on MPSAS and/or public financial management is an added advantage
  • Able to conduct research and solving technical accounting issues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good project management skills
  • High degree of self-motivation, results oriented and able to work independently

MANAGER – STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT & MONITORING

 

The successful candidate will be responsible to analyze critical new opportunities, develop & optimize the Institute’s operation models, collaborate across operational units to develop long-range plan & on-going strategic planning process, create & own business plans as well as financial models for key strategic initiatives. The incumbent will also monitor accounting profession trends worldwide to support analyses & identify opportunities/risks, serve as project team member on a variety of projects & initiatives with minimal direction and present applicable analyses & recommendations to the Top Management.

 

Requirements:

  • Professional qualification in Accountancy or MBA from a top tier graduate business school
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience in strategic planning and/or management consulting
  • Familiarity with the accounting profession is an added advantage
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation development and delivery
  • Ability to prioritize activities, manage timelines, and deal effectively with pressure
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

MANAGER – SMALL & MEDIUM PRACTICES

 

The successful candidate shall assist the Head, Small & Medium Practices (SMP) to spearhead all initiatives and activities pertaining to Quality Assessment Programme and to conduct training to support the development of SMPs. The incumbent will also put in place necessary programme in enhancing audit quality of SMPs.

 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary or professional qualification in Accountancy and a member of MIA
  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience in both major audit firm and SMP firm, and must be in current employment as a Manager 
  • Extensive practical knowledge of international and local accounting as well as auditing standards
  • Possess the ability to facilitate training programmes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with excellent command in spoken and written English
  • Good leadership skills and with the ability to inspire, motivate and influence people
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills
  • Highly professional, dependable and committed to meet multiple timelines

MANAGER – ENFORCEMENT & LEGAL

(INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE – ACCOUNTING)

 

The successful candidate will assist the Investigation Committee of the Institute in investigating complaints against MIA members which involves, among others, reviews of audit working papers to establish and evaluate the compliance with accounting and auditing standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Tertiary or professional qualification in Accountancy and a member of MIA
  • At least 5 years of audit experience, and must be in current employment as a Manager with a major or medium size audit firm
  • Possess strong analytical skills and must be good in report writing
  • Good knowledge of Auditing and Accounting Standards
  • Able to meet tight timelines and work under a challenging and dynamic working environment
  • Motivated, results oriented and able to work independently

ASSISTANT MANAGER – CORPORATE & INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

 

The successful candidate will assist the Head and Manager of the Corporate & International Affairs Department in managing activities of the department. This would include handling relevant tasks in respect of Council and Executive Committee meetings, taking minutes of meetings, monthly updating of progress reports on the IFAC Compliance Programme and providing other day-to-day support to the department.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Administration/Studies or other related discipline
  • At least 5 years relevant working experience in managing corporate administration and/or company secretarial duties
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with excellent command in written and spoken English
  • Pleasant personality, strong interpersonal skills and able to interact with all levels of people confidently
  • Possess high degree of self-motivation, results oriented and meticulous
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision

JUNIOR EXECUTIVE – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

 

The successful candidates will work with the Executives and Managers of Professional Development assisting in the day-to-day administration of training programmes, seminars and conferences which will include handling customer enquiries, data entry, participant enrolments and confirmation, following up on receivables and assisting in all aspects of event administration and customer relations duties.

 

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Business Administration or other related discipline with 1 - 2 years relevant working experience.
  • Certificate/STPM/SPM holders with minimum 3 years relevant working experience may also be considered
  • Able to communicate well in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both oral and written
  • Able to multi-task, pay attention to details and meet deadlines
  • Able to interact with people at all levels professionally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision
