Articles on Risk Management

FOREWORD BY THE PAIB COMMITTEE

The PAIB Committee of the Institute has selected these three articles on risk management for our members' reference. These articles were written by Mr Joseph Eby Ruin. The Committee is thankful to Mr Eby Ruin who has granted his permission to the Committee to upload these articles on the MIA website.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mr Joseph Eby Ruin, a member of MIA since 1983, and fellow of ACCA since 1984, was a Fulbright Professional Exchange scholar (1995/96). He was awarded the honorary post-graduate DBA by Kursk State Tech. University Russia in 2006. He has 30 years of managerial experiences in 12 different companies that he worked in, and amongst other positions he assumed was as Executive Vice President/Chief Risk Officer of a large Malaysian commercial bank. He retired from full time employment in April 2007; and is now the Proprietor of RiskFirst Consultancy & Training Services.

He is the Hon. Treasurer of FAAM (Fulbright Alumni Association of Malaysia). He was also elected in November 2007 as the Regional Director of PRMIA, Malaysia Chapter. Dr J. E. Ruin, a native of Sarawak, has written 19 management books (and 2 are on risk management). These books are on sale in local bookshops in Malaysia.
