Financial Statements Review

The Financial Statements Review function of MIA is one of the three components of the surveillance function of the Surveillance and Enforcement Division of the Institute.

MIA’s FSR covers the following:

1. Work with the Financial Statements Review Committee (FSRC) to monitor quality of financial statements through review process.
2. Work with the FSRC to review cases referred by other regulators.
3. Provide guidance to MIA members on good financial reporting based on common findings identified during the review process.
4. Keeping track of media report on possible accounting irregularities and reporting deficiencies in public listed companies and public interest entities and advise on the necessary action to be taken against the relevant member.
5. Perform “fact findings” on cases referred by other regulators before drafting complaints on behalf of the Council under Rule 3(3) of Disciplinary Rule.
