The Accounting Students Conference

Introduction

In line with MIA’s commitment to the development and advancement of the accountancy profession, MIA had initiated the Accounting Students Conference (ASC) in 2006. MIA will invite all universities fall under Part I of the First Schedule of the Accountants Act 1967 to bid to host the ASC once every 2 years.

The inaugural ASC was hosted by the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) on 25 & 26 November 2006 while the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) hosted the second ASC on 1 & 2 December 2008. The next ASC will be held in 2010.

Objective

The objective is to provide insights into the accountancy profession and to equip students with knowledge as to what is required in every professional accountant. The conference is also aimed to instill the importance of life long learning spirit in students, which is crucial in the demanding market.
