Is there a guideline for institutions seeking accreditation of the accounting programme?

Yes, there is a guideline for institutions seeking accreditation of the accounting programme. You can download from the MIA's website at www.mia.org.my.

Is there a deadline for application for accreditation?

Since seeking accreditation exercise is voluntary, there is no deadline for applying for accreditation. However, institutions need to take into consideration the time required to prepare the relevant information before they indicate their wish to undergo accreditation by submitting the proper application.

c. How long is the process of accreditation?

An institution applying for accreditation of its accounting degree programme may expect the process to take approximately six (6) months.
d. What are the differences between recognised and non-recognised accounting degree programmes?

Generally, recognised accounting programmes have gone through the process of accreditation exercise conducted by MIA. The qualification is included under Part I of the Accountants Act 1967. Graduates of the programme may apply for MIA membership subject to membership requirements.
