Circular 34/2012 |
TO ALL ACCOUNTANTS
INVITATION TO MASB BRIEFING: FINANCIAL REPORTING FRAMEWORK FOR PRIVATE ENTITIES
We refer to MASB's publication on ‘Request for Views on Private
Entities, the Way Forward' that aims to seek views from
interested parties about the future financial reporting
framework for private entities in Malaysia. The deadline for
submission is 29 June 2012.
The MASB is considering the possibility of replacing the current
Private Entity Reporting Standards (PERS Framework) with a new
set of standards in 2015 with an effective date of 2016. In the
interim, the MASB will consider reviewing the current PERS
Framework if there are areas that need immediate improvement or
amendment so as to mitigate the increasing concerns about the
gap between the Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS)
and PERS. Members’ views are required in the following areas:
|
|
|
|
- |
whether the plan being considered by the MASB is in the best
interest of financial reporting for private entities; |
|
- |
whether any immediate changes are required in the current PERS
Framework if private entities continue to apply it until 2015; |
|
- |
which set of accounting standards would be suitable for
private entities post-2015; and |
|
- |
the expected time and effort involved in transitioning to the
new financial reporting framework. |
|
|
|
In a move to enhance members’ understanding on the various
financial reporting framework options for private entities, a
briefing by the MASB has been arranged.
