Foreword

Once again Malaysian organisations will vie for the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) which recognise and encourage excellence in the presentation of financial and business information. The accolades showered on winners of NACRA have helped seal the awards' supremacy as much sought after possessions that lend credence to an organisation's disclosure regime.

Continuing the tradition of organising the awards are the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) with the continued support of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). If anything, the objectives of NACRA are even more relevant now as the public has a heightened awareness of its rights to accurate and dependable information for making investment decisions. In fact the annual report is the ultimate litmus test to an organisation's claim to transparency in its reporting.

Over the years, the level of competition displayed by organizations vying for the awards have been most encouraging. Several of our winners are repeat winners who continue to excel each year in their efforts to outdo one another. It is this competitive spirit that drives the NACRA Adjudication Committee to employ the highest standards of judging.

The stringent criteria set by the Adjudication Committee for selecting winners have not deterred new participants from competing. On the contrary, the increase in the number of entries received for the awards merely confirms the prestige associated with being a recipient of NACRA.

The NACRA presentation is held annually at the end of the year in a glittering ceremony graced by the captains of corporations, industries and government agencies. As hopefuls and would be recipient sit at the edge of their seats in anticipation of hearing their organisations' names called out as winners, we the organisers can be contented in the knowledge that NACRA will grow from strength to strength in inculcating quality annual reporting in Malaysia.
