Successful organisations worldwide use management
accounting to create value that leads to excellent
business performance. Management accounting with its
emphasis on strategic decision making and
performance management offers invaluable tools and
concepts towards attainment of global
competitiveness.
Towards this end, the Malaysian Institute of
Accountants (MIA) and The Chartered Institute of
Management Accountants (CIMA), Malaysia Division
have jointly initiated the National Award for
Management Accounting (NAfMA). The objectives of
NAfMA are to recognize organisations adopting best
practice in management accounting and creating value
that leads to business excellence; and to promote
the application of management accounting techniques
and systems within organisations in Malaysia in the
pursuit of world-class business performance.
NAfMA is a step towards answering the nation’s call
for corporate excellence and good corporate
governance. It is through the spirit of sharing best
management accounting practices within the
professional and business community that will enable
us to move together in tandem towards world class
recognition and stature.
In the international arena, NAfMA received an
international accolade when it won the Xerox
Innovation Award in the Invention, Innovation and
New Product Exposition (INPEX 2005) on 11 June 2005
in Pittsburgh, USA. In the local scene, NAfMA won
the UiTM Inventions, Innovations and Designs Gold
Award 2004.

YBhg Datuk Abdul Samad Haji Alias (Dr), and the CIMA
