Dato' Mohd Salleh Mahmud Accountant General
Dato' Mohd Salleh Mahmud was appointed as the Accountant General Malaysia on 21
March 2005, taking over the helm from YBhg Dato' Othman Abdullah. He has held
his previous post as Deputy Accountant General since 1996. He graduated from
University of Malaya with an Hons Degree in Accounting in 1976 and obtained his
Masters in Business Administration in 1993, he started his career in 1976 in the
Foreign Investment Committee, Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister's
Department. In 1980, he was posted to the Telecommunications Department as
Senior Accountant and was made the Chief Accountant of the Pension Division,
Public Services Department in 1981.
Later, he was appointed as Director of the Pension Trust Fund in 1981. Currently
Dato' Mohd Salleh sits on the Board of Syarikat Ladang Rakyat Terengganu Sdn Bhd.
He is a member of the Audit Committee, Group Risk Management Committee and
Chairman of the Building Committee.

Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff President
Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff has been the President of the
Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) since 28 July 2007. He
served in the MIA’s Council from year 2000 – 2003 and subsequently
returned in July 2005, having been appointed as the Vice President
of MIA.
At MIA presently, he chairs the Executive Committee, Financial
Reporting Standards Implementation Committee and the Globalisation
and Liberalisation Committee. He is also a member of the World
Congress of Accountants 2010 Steering Committee.
He is the Vice President of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA),
a regional organisation for the accountancy profession dedicated to
further strengthening cooperation among ASEAN accountants and
contributing to the development of the profession in the region. Nik
also sits on CPA Australia’s Board Public Practice Committee, in
which he is a committee member. On the regulatory front, Nik is a
Board member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB).
Apart from that, he is also a member of the National Professional
Services Export Council and was a director of the Professional
Service Development Corporation Sdn. Bhd. He has represented MIA in
negotiations at the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Services, World
Trade Organisation and Free Trade Agreements.
Presently, Nik offers strategic thought leadership for a business
advisory practice based in Kuala Lumpur called Inovastra Sdn Bhd. He
started his professional career in 1987 in a chartered accounting
practice in Perth and later joined a public accounting firm in Kuala
Lumpur in 1988. He founded his own practice in 1994 and was the
Executive Chairman of Khairuddin, Hasyudeen and Razi from 2000 until
2006. He was the Executive Chairman of KHR Business Advisory Sdn Bhd
from 2006 to 2007. His professional interests include Strategic
Planning, Performance Management and Risk Management.
He graduated from Curtin University of Technology, Australia, and is
a Chartered Accounted of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants
(MIA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) of CPA Australia.

YBhg Datuk Abdul Samad Haji Alias (Dr)
Vice President - Practice Review Committee Member
Datuk Abdul Samad Haji Alias is no stranger to the council of MIA and the
accounting fraternity in Malaysia as he was the 4th president of the Institute
(having held the position since September 2000 to June 2005). During his
presidency, he led the Institute to chart many successes. Even during his
retirement he continued to support the Institute in various initiatives that
were pertinent to the practice of accountancy in Malaysia. Abdul Samad’s return
bodes well for the accountancy profession.
Throughout his distinguished career in accounting and business, Abdul Samad has
held fast to two principles. `One, be the best that you can be. Two, never
compromise on your integrity because it is the armour which protects you'.
In recognition to his extraordinary leadership towards developing and promoting
the accountancy profession both locally and globally, he was honoured with the
inaugural ACCA Achievement Awards 2006. Abdul Samad's outward-looking approach
and emphasise on international relations have given Malaysia a voice on the
global accounting platform. He has been instrumental in helping the Malaysian
accountancy profession gain greater recognition at home and overseas, and
remains active as an IFAC Board member, articulating ASEAN and Asian viewpoints.
Back home, Abdul Samad also chairs the Malaysian Accountancy Research and
Education Foundation (MAREF). He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).
In the corporate arena, Abdul Samad is presently the Chairman of Malaysia
Venture Capital Management Berhad and Malaysia Debt Ventures Berhad. Abdul Samad
also sits on the Boards of organisations like Tabung Haji, TH Plantations Bhd,
Perbadanan Kemajuan Iktisad Negeri Kelantan, Malaysia Deposit Insurance
Corporation, and Felda Holdings Berhad. He is also a board member of Universiti
Putra Malaysia.
Elsewhere in the accountancy circle, he was the Deputy Country Managing Partner
of Arthur Andersen and Co, Malaysia from 1991 until his retirement in 1999. He
was an advisor to the firm from 1999 to June 2002. In January 2005, he was
appointed as the non-executive Chairman of Ernst & Young Malaysia.
Abdul Samad joined public practice in 1976 and was involved in the audit of
companies in various industries, some of which are banking, insurance,
advertising, oil and gas, manufacturing, marketing, construction and government
agencies. He was also engaged in business advisory assignments such as mergers
and acquisitions, accounting systems consultation, internal control reviews,
feasibility studies, listings on the Stock Exchange, and business consultation
and planning. He was also extensively involved in receivership, liquidation and
corporate reorganisation.
Abdul Samad graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor
of Commerce degree. He was conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy
(Accountancy) by Universiti Utara Malaysia in 2001. He is a Fellow of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). He was conferred the
Panglima Jasa Negara by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong in June 2003.

Prof Dato' Dr. Daing Mohd Nasir Daing Ibrahim
Prof Dato’ Dr. Daing Mohd Nasir . PhD, BBA, MBA, CA(M), FCPA (Australia) is
currently the Director of the Advanced Management Centre, Univerisiti Sains
Malaysia. He is actively involved in the administration of the university as
well as the lending his expertise to various other organisations such as
professional accounting bodies, business associations and government agencies.
Prof Dato’ Dr. Daing was conferred the Dean of the Year award in 2004 in
conjunction with the World Congress conference for the Academy of Global
Business Advancement (AGBA, USA) held in New Delhi. In its 3rd World Congress
held in Kuala Lumpur, AGBA once again presented him the “2006 AGBA Distinguished
Dean Award.”

Prof Dr. Ibrahim Kamal Abdul Rahman
Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Kamal is currently the Dean for Faculty of Accountancy. He has
held the position since February 2001. Dr. Ibrahim’s career with UiTM started in
1982 as Course Tutor. He obtained his PhD from University of Hull, UK. Dr
Ibrahim also holds a MBA from Western Illinois University, USA.
Among his academic activities are involvements in various research activities at
national and international levels, publications of articles in national and
international refereed journals. Dr. Ibrahim is also a founding member of the
National Award for Management Accounting Best Practice (NAFMA).
Dr. Ibrahim also sits in various committees such as Chairman of the Professional
Accountants in Business (PAIB), the Education Committee as well as Council
Member of National Taxation Academy of Malaysia.

Assoc. Prof Dr. Norman Mohd Saleh - Audit Committee Member
Assoc. Prof Dr. Norman Mohd Saleh is an Associate Professor in the School of
Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia
specialising in the field of financial reporting.
He obtained his Bachelor of Accounting from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia,
Masters of Science (Accountancy) from University of East Anglia, United Kingdom
and Doctor of Philosophy from La Trobe University, Australia.
His main research areas are in accounting policy choices, earnings management
and quality, and corporate governance. He published in local as well as
international journals such as Accounting and Business Research, International
Journal of Management, International Journal of Business, International Journal
of Management Studies, Asian Review of Accounting, Malaysian Accounting Review,
Jurnal Pengurusan, Banker’s Journal, Indonesian Management and Accounting Review
and Akauntan Nasional/Accountants Today.
He was appointed as visiting Associate Profesor at the Tashkent State Technical
University, Uzbekistan, as part of the effort to develop a business programme in
the university. He has served a member of the Ministry of Higher Education’s
committee to evaluate undergraduate accounting programme in Malaysian
universities, and in a committee that suggests the governance of graduate
business school in Malaysia. He also involved in examination process of
Malaysian Association of Accounting Administrators, as well as in working groups
set up by the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board to review new standards to be
adopted.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shahul Hameed Mohamed Ibrahim
Associate Prof Dr. Shahul Hameed is an authority in the complex and growing
field of Islamic Accounting. A fellow member of ACCA, he holds a PhD in
Accounting from the University of Dundee, Scotland where he wrote a thesis on
the need for and perceptions of Islamic Accounting.
Flexibility and technical expertise have enabled him to diversify his local and
global work experience. Prof Shahul initially started out in public practice
with Kassim Chan, moved on to lecture at UiTM and subsequently worked as a cost
accountant at FIMA Metal Box. In 1987, he returned to teaching and lectured in
financial and computerised accounting at the Administrative College of Papua New
Guinea for four years. Since returning to Malaysia in 1991, he has taught at the
International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur. He was the Head of the
Department of Accounting, Kulliyah of Economics and Management Sciences at the
University for four years from 2003 until May 2007, during which he organised
the development and implementation of a new curriculum for the B.Accounting in
line with IES requirements. He was an active member of the Halatuju II committee
for Accounting programs of the Ministry of Higher Education and holds several
curriculum advisory and examiner positions for various colleges in the country.
He is currently the co-ordinator of the Islamic Accounting and Accountability
Research Unit at his University.

Assoc. Professor Dr. S. Susela Devi
Assoc Prof.Dr S.Susela Devi, PhD., CA(M), CPA(M), BAcc. (Hons.) is an Associate
Professor of Accounting at the Faculty of Business and Accountancy, University
of Malaya, Malaysia. Her PhD thesis entitled “Accounting Standards Setting
Process in Malaysia’ uses a political economy of accounting framework to explore
the dynamics of financial accounting and reporting standards setting. She is a
professionally qualified accountant with 7 years’ audit experience in an
established public accounting firm. She also served as a Council Member of the
Malaysian Institute of Accountants (2000-2002). She is currently consultant to
CAPA and is a member of MIA Education Committee
She served as Visiting Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Waikato, New
Zealand (2002-2004). She also served as consultant to ADB-CAPA on “Train the
Trainers” Workshops conducted in Bangladesh and Viet Nam (in 2002).
Her research interests include international financial reporting standards,
accounting education, accounting standards for Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs),
upgrading accounting infrastructure in the lesser developed countries and issues
relating to corporate governance and the regulation and organisation of the
accounting profession.

Dato' Nordin Baharuddin
Dato' Nordin Baharuddin has over 35 years of working experience in both public
accounting practice and in the commercial sector. After graduating from The
London School of Economics and Political Science, Dato’ Nordin joined Deloitte
Haskins & Sells in London in 1973 to pursue Chartered Accountancy.
Upon qualifying, he joined Petronas in 1979 as Manager in the Production Sharing
Audit & Accounts Department, which oversaw the implementation of production
sharing contracts between Petronas and other oil companies. Dato’ Nordin joined
Ernst & Young in 1980 as Manager and was soon promoted to Principal and Partner.
In 1984, he was transferred to the Sarawak office of Ernst & Young to assist the
Partner-in-Charge in developing the Ernst & Young offices in that State. In
1990, Dato’ Nordin was appointed the Partner-in-charge of Sarawak with overall
responsibility for the growth and development of the practice. He also had
special responsibility for staff training, quality control and technical
standards.
Dato’ Nordin has been involved in the audit of public-listed and non-listed
companies in diversified industries like manufacturing, plantation, electronics
and banking. He has also participated actively in due diligence meetings of
clients and providing business advisory services to individuals and client
companies. His major clients include Asea Brown Boveri, Kumpulan Guthrie Bhd,
Trade & Development Bank of Mongolia, Mongolia Post Bank, Golomt Bank, the Bank
of Mongolia and Mongolia-Russia Joint Venture Edernet Company Ltd.
In recognition of his services to society and the nation, he was awarded the
Darjah Setia Negeri Sembilan in 2000, which carried the title Dato’. Dato’
Nordin is currently the President of the MICPA and the Chairman of KUB. He is
also a Member of the Financial Reporting Foundation.

Christina Constance Foo
Christina Constance Foo has more than 22 years of working experience in
professional services practice and the commercial sector, serving governments
and private sector clients. She began her career with Ernst & Whinney in
taxation and later moved on to management consulting covering finance advisory,
human resource and organization, and, marketing including branding. She worked
and trained with Ernst & Young internationally and was seconded to Ernst & Young
LLP based in Atlanta, USA, Ernst & Young International based in London, UK and
Ernst & Young Asia-Pacific Global Client Consulting. Her last held position was
as Director, Business Development, Ernst & Young Malaysia, based in Kuala
Lumpur.
Today, she is a business owner of varied interests while leading a strategic
business building consulting firm - Priority One Consultancy Services Sdn Bhd –
she founded in 2001. Christina believes in developing people to achieve their
fullest potential and enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences with her
clients and organizations she is associated with.
Christina graduated from Deakin University, Australia with a Bachelor of
Business Studies (Accounting). She is a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian
Institute of Accountants and a Fellow of CPA Australia. She was appointed to the
Malaysian Council of CPA Australia in December 2004 and is currently, the
President of CPA Australia (Malaysia Division).

YBhg Dato' Ahmad Johan Mohammad Raslan
YBhg Dato' Ahmad Johan Mohammad Raslan is the Executive Chairman of
PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia and has over 25 years of experience in audit and
business advisory both in Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
Dato' Johan holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Economics and
Accountancy from University of Hull, United Kingdom. Dato' Johan was appointed
as MIA Council on 16 September 2007.
Dato' is the Chairman of the Financial Reporting Foundation (FRF) and also
participates in corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR)
issues and has assisted Malaysian regulators to implement its corporate
governance framework.
He is a member of the International Advisory Panel of the Labuan Offshore
Financial Services Authority, a member of the Working Group C (Corporate
Governance and Shareholders Rights) of the Corporate Law Reform Committee,
Chairman of CSR Malaysia, and a Board member of Perbadanan Putrajaya.
Dato' Johan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and
Wales He is also a Director of the Kuala Lumpur Business Club and a Trustee of
the Tun Suffian Foundation. Johan is an Eisenhower Fellow.

Beh Tok Koay
Beh is a noted specialist in Malaysian Taxation with more than 30 years'
experience in tax and accountancy services under his belt, including seven years
in the Malaysian Inland Revenue service and over 20 years as an Executive
Director with a Big 4 firm. Currently, Beh is the Executive Director of the PFA
Tax Services Sdn Bhd, specialising in tax planning and advisory services for
multi-national and large local organisations.
Besides being a member of MIA, he is also a Fellow member of ACCA, a member of
the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a fellow member of
the Malaysian Institute of Taxation. He contributes his time generously to
professional and regulatory bodies lacally and internationaly. Beh is currently
a Technical Advisor to the Board of the International Federation of Accountants
(IFAC).

Y C Lee, is the Managing Director of the CCM Pharmaceutical Group, CCM Pharma
Sdn Bhd, Prima Health (Retail) (M) Sdn Bhd and Columbia Asia Medical Centre.
Recruited by ICI Paints UK in 1979, Mr Lee Joined ICI Paints (M) Sdn Bhd in 1982
and held various senior positions within the Group. Administration Manager of
ICI Paints (1982-1988), Assistant Chief Accountant of ICI (Malaysia) Holdings
(1988-1990), Manager of Information Technology (1990-1991) before being seconded
to ICI (Singapore) Pte Ltd as ICI Polyurethanes Asia Pacific’s Business
Controller (1991-1993). He was appointed General Manager Finance & IT of ICI
Malaysia (1993-1997). He was appointed the Managing Director of the CCM
Pharmaceutical Group of companies on 1 April 1997.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Electrical & Electronic
Engineering from University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology, UK
and a Master of Business Administration degree from Cranfield Institute of
Technology, UK. He has completed the Advanced Course in Production Methods and
Management in the University of Cambridge and has also attended the ICI

Liew Kim Yuen
Liew Kim Yuen heads the Financial and Corporate Surveillance (FCS) Department in
the Securities Commission (SC). He joined the SC in 2001 with extensive
experience in the audit, investment banking and commercial sectors. In his
current position, he is responsible for monitoring the compliance of public
listed companies (PLCs) with approved accounting standards and surveillance on
the corporate conduct of PLCs. He qualified as a member of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1986 and is a member of the
Malaysian Institute of Accountants. Representing the SC, Mr Liew is an advisor
to the MASB Board and also an observer of the MIA's Financial Reporting
Standards Implementation Committee.

Mohamed Raslan Abdul Rahman
Mohamed Raslan Abdul Rahman is a partner with the Assurance practice of KPMG
Malaysia and has been with KPMG since 1995. Also EXCO member of KPMG and
Partner-in-Charge of Marketing and Communication. Raslan’s background includes
many years of audit, consulting and corporate finance experience, both in
Malaysia and Australia.
Raslan has a wide market and industry experience. In Australia, he was mainly
involved in the manufacturing. In PETRONAS, he was arranging financing and
acquisition of gas and petrochemical industries together with massive property
development of the Twin Tower project. In KPMG, he became involved in
plantations, property development, stock broking and retailing,
telecommunications and media.
After the currency turmoil, Raslan’s main area was acting as independent
financial advisors to lenders and/or shareholders on restructuring schemes. He
has been involved in providing audit, accounting services, corporate finance and
work to clients. He has also worked in carrying out internal audit work
involving systems controls, risk management and business reviews. He started the
KPMG Management Assurance Services division in the area of internal audit for
KPMG Malaysia. He has been particularly involved in providing services relating
to initial public offers, rights issues and other special issues of companies
listed in the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. These services include review of
forecast and projection, prospectus, proforma financial statement. Also, he has
nurtured companies for listing and provided transaction support service to the
merger of banks. He was also the Partner-in-Charge of developing the economic
value management methodology for KPMG Malaysia product.
Raslan has vast experience in providing due diligence services to clients. He
has been involved in several major due diligence reviews and valuation of
companies in various industries. Due to his wide exposure to corporates,
Raslan’s specialty is in restructuring, rescue plans and also financing.
Raslan obtained his Bachelor of Commerce from University of Melbourne. He is an
Associate Member of The Australia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAA),
Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA)
and Associate Member, Malaysian Institute of Cooperative & Management
Accountants (ICMA).

YBhg Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed
Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed, an accountant for the past 17 years, has made many
contributions to the advancement of the accountancy profession.
Nur Jazlan was an MIA Council member from 2001 to 2005. In July 2007, he was
re-appointed by the government.
On the national front, he has been an Umno Youth executive committee member from
1996 to now. He is chairman of Umno Pulai division, Johor, and a member of the
International Affairs Bureau of Umno.
In the last general election, he was elected as member of parliament for the
Pulai parliamentary constituency on a Barisan Nasional ticket. He is the
secretary to the International Affairs Committee and a committee member of the
Entrepreneurs Committee of the Backbenchers Club of Barisan Nasional
In the corporate arena, he serves on the board of UM Land Bhd as an independent
non-executive director and as a member of the company's Audit Committee.
Elsewhere, he was appointed as Telekom Malaysia's representative to the Board of
Shareholders of PT Pratama Excelcomindo. He also serves on the Board of
Prinsiptek Bhd as an independent non-executive director and Audit Committee
member.
He is an independent non-executive director of Penang Port, the commercial arm
of Penang Port Commission. A former student of Maktab Rendah Sains Mara Kulim,
Kedah, he furthered his education in the United Kingdom, completing his ACCA
qualification in 1989.

Abdul Halim Husin
Abdul Halim bin Husin CA(M), ATII(M), ASA, MBA, FIPFM(UK), BACC(Hon) is
currently the Managing Partner of Abd Halim Kptan & Co, an audit firm he founded
in year 2000.
Prior to running his own practice, he gained his experience from KPMG, an
international accounting firm covering a wide spectrum of clients from large
manufacturing firms to small and medium sized industries. He also had a stint
with Siemens Components, a subsidiary of Siemens Germany as a senior executive.
He has over 14 years experience in the field of accounting, auditing, taxation
and consultancy.
Halim obtained his Bachelor of Accounting from the International Islamic
University, Malaysia and has a Masters in Business Administration. He is a
member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountant, the Malaysian Institute of
Taxation, the Malaysian Institute of Management and an associate member of the
CPA Australia. He is an elected Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA)
and the immediate past Chairman for MIA Melaka Branch. Currently, he serves as a
member for the MIA’s Audit Committee, Public Practice Committee, Practice Review
Committee, Continuing Professional Education Committee, member of Task Force on
Legislative Reform and the Chairman of the Company Law Practice Working Group.

Chan Wan Siew, Paul
Paul W.Chan is synonymous with financial planning in Malaysia. As a founding
Board Member of the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM), Paul was
instrumental in introducing the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation in
Malaysia. His present roles include serving as Deputy Chairman of the FPAM Board
of Certification and Standards and Chairman of the ISO/TC 222 Committee for
Malaysia which helps develop a global standard in personal financial planning.
Currently he is the CEO of S&P NetWorth Advisors Sdn Bhd, a financial planning
and wealth management advisory services entity.

Chen Voon Hann
Chen Voon Hann is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of
Accountants, Fellow Member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
(UK), Associate Member of Malaysia Institute of Taxation, Chartered Member of
The Institute of Internal Auditors of Malaysia and he holds a Diploma in

He is the Managing Partner of Messrs Chen & Associates, Chartered Accountants.
He has more than 16 years working experience in an international accounting
firm, a merchant bank, a regulatory body and in the commercial sector. His
experiences include auditing and assurance, taxation and business advisory. He
has been actively involved in the professional activities of MIA, MICPA and ACCA.

Lam Kee Soon
Lam Kee Soon obtained his Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree from Australian
National University in 1976.
He is the Partner, KS Lam & Co. Prior to running his own practice, he gained his
experience and worked with Electricity Commission of New South Wales (NSW),
Australia in 1976. In 1980, he joined Peat Marwick Mitchell, Malaysia as Audit
Senior. He was the Audit Assistant Manager for Ernst & Whinney from 1983-1986
and Group Accountant, Road Builder (Holdings) Bhd from 1986-1993.

Lim Thiam Kee, Peter.
Lim Thiam Kee, Peter was elected to the MIA Council at its 18th AGM, which was
held on September 25, 2004. Having served as a senior employee in an
international audit firm for 8 years and having been in public practice for more
than two decades, Lim has been actively serving and contributing to the
accounting profession over the past few years.
Lim represents the Institute at the International Federation of Accountants’
Small and Medium Practices Committee (IFAC-SMP) since January 2006. At the
Institute, he has been appointed to chair the Public Practice Committee since
2005 and Investigation Committee since October 2006. He also served as Chairman
of The Small Medium Practice Task Force from 2002 - 2004 and The Insolvency
Committee from 2004 to September 2005. Apart from that, he is a member of the
Accounting & Auditing Committee Taxation Committee and Audit Licence
Interviewing Panel.
Lim is currently the Chairman of The Institute of Chartered Accountants In
Australia (ICAA), Malaysia Branch and has held that position since 2001. He is
also serving on the Councils of three other professional bodies, namely The
Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) since 2002, The
Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) from
2002 to 2004 and re-elected in May 2007, and Malaysian Institute of Taxation
(MIT) since July 2006.
Lim notes that tremendous changes have taken place recently within the business
sectors as a result of globalisation and trade liberalisation and corporate
failures in the capital markets, locally and internationally that have
consequential impact on the accounting profession.
To maintain investor confidence in the Capital markets, the Government and
regulators have amended the rules and regulations and imposed greater
responsibilities on Auditors in their financial reporting functions, tightened
the compliance with financial reporting requirements and enforced a more severe
punishment for non-compliance.
With the vast experiences gained over the years in public practice, Lim is
prepared to devote his time and effort to serve members’ interest in the light
of these new challenges facing the profession.

Dato' Raymond Liew Lee Leong
Having spent 20 years in the UK working with global accounting firms and
multinational companies, Raymond Liew offers the local profession a priceless
international perspective. Currently, Liew is the Managing Partner of Parker
Randall Malaysia, a globally affiliated firm with offices worldwide. He is also
the Vice President of Parker Randall International which is based in the United
Kingdom.
He set up key affiliations with strategic alliance professionals under the
flagship of the Multiple-Disciplinary Partnership to equip these professionals
for Malaysia's entry into the World Trade Organisation (WTO). He devotes
substantial time to spearheading professional development and works closely with
Malaysian Institute of Taxation as well as Ministry of Finance.
Qualified as Chartered Accountants, Liew also holds an MBA from the Henley
Management College which is affiliated to Brunel University, UK. He is a Fellow
Member of ACCA and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).

Soh Siong Hoon, Sam
Sam Soh was elected as the MIA Council member on September 2005. He has been
actively involved in the continous development of the Institute and the
accounting profession through various committees and activities at MIA and
elsewhere. Sam's involvement with the Institute goes back long way. He was among
members of Institute who was elected to form the first Council after the
Institute's Annual General Meeting in 1987. During his term as a Council member,
he contributed profoundly towards the development of the profession. One of his
major contributions was the setting up of the Institute's Southern Branch office
in Johor Bahru in 1987. He continued serving the branch until 1989.
In 2000, he was once again appointed as the Johor branch chairperson. During his
tenure as the chairperson, he established a good working relationship with
various governmental bodies and authority agencies such as the Inland Revenue
Board, Companies Comission of Malaysia, and The Royal Malaysian Custom as well
as with the Professional Accountancy Bodies in Johor. He proactively provided
his inputs and recommendations to the relevant authorities on matters concerning
the accountancy profession and for the benefit of all members and practitioners.
Although he is no longer spearheading the branch since September 2005, he
continues to provide support and knowledge to the present team in Johor. He
contributes his time generously by providing guidance and other recommendations
to help raise the standards of corporate and professional governance and
performance among members. Apart from being MIA Council member, Sam is also a
Council member of The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA)
since 1983 and he is currently the Chairman of MICPA's Public Practice
Committee.
In the business arena, Sam is a practising chartered accountant under M/S Soh
and Co. He has been managng his own practice for more than 20 years. He holds a
Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia and is a
Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Sam's experience
includes working in international firms of Chartered Accountants in Perth,
Sydney & Singapore and covers auditing, accounting, taxation, receivership,
company secretarial & management consultancy work. He is a regular speaker at
Corporate Governance seminars organized by public companies and trade
associations in conjunction with the Institute of Corporate Governance.

28. Dr. Thillaisundaram Arumugam
Dr. A. Thillaisundaram is an Associate Professor and Head, Department of
Accounting of the Faculty of Accountancy and Management, Universiti Tunku Abdul
Rahman.
He obtained his Bachelor of Economics (Honours) in Business Administration
degree from University of Malaya in 1970 and his Master of Business
Administration Degree from University of Liverpool in 1976. He is a Chartered
Management Accountant (Fellow, CIMA, UK) since 1981 and a Chartered Accountant
(Malaysia) from 1982. His PhD was awarded by the University of Southampton,
United Kingdom in 1998. He is also a Certified Financial Planner (Malaysia) from
2003. Since 2005, he is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management. In
early 2007 he became an associate member of the Malaysian Institute of Taxation.
Dr.Thillai has been a management trainer/lecturer since 1974 having worked for
the National Productivity Council, National University of Malaysia (UKM) and
University of Malaya. His early working exposure was in administration in the
Postal Services Department of Singapore and in the ICI Paints Company of
Malaysia.
He is a member of the Board of Advisors of SGS Sdn Bhd as well as a committee
member of the Malaysian Economic Association, an Honorary Treasurer of the
University of Southampton Society (Malaysia) and an Assistant Secretary General
of the Malaysian Association of Productivity. In addition, he is also a member
of the Board of Governors of the La Salle Secondary School, Petaling Jaya.

Yeo Tek Ling
Yeo Tek Ling has contributed significantly in the development of the Accounting
profession in Malaysia especially in the area of Professional Accountants in
Business.
He began his career as an Assistant Accountant with Associated Pan Malaysia
Cement Sdn Bhd in 1981. In 1985, he joined Advanced Packaging Technology (M) Bhd
as Accountant and subsequently assumed the position of Finance and
Administration Manager and Corporate Planner. He was appointed as a Director of
the company in January 1994 and assumed the position of Finance Director in
January 1996.
Besides MIA, Yeo is also a member of The Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants. Coming from the commerce and industry segment of the profession,
Yeo brings with him a wealth of experience as a professional accountant in
business. His knowledge and expertise in this area was well extended via his
involvement in the Institute's various strategic committees. In the
international scene, he was actively involved as the Institute’s representative
on the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)’s PAIB committee.
Yeo was one of the architects behind the instigation of the National Award for
Management Accounting (NAfMA), a joint effort between MIA and The Chartered
Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Malaysia Division, back in 2004 and
he has been appointed Chairman of the NAfMA Organising Committee since then.

Tuan Haji Rosli Abdullah
(Registrar 1st December - Present)
Tuan
Haji Rosli Abdullah is appointed as the Institute's fourth Registrar
effective 1st December 2007. He takes over the helm from Mohammad
Abdullah whose term ended upon the appointment of Rosli.
In his role as Registrar, Rosli main responsibilities are to lead
the management on the affairs of the Institute as well as
maintaining the Institute's register of members. He will also offer
guidance on the implementation of MIA's Strategic Blueprint which
outlines the various objectives and goals of the Institute, as
determined by the Council.
Drawing from his extensive experience in both the Government as well
the corporate sectors, MIA is confident that Rosli will be able to
dynamically lead the management of MIA in steering it towards
excellence.
He is presently the Senior General Manager-Finance of Putrajaya
Holdings Sdn Bhd and joined the company in 1996 as the General
Manager for Corporate Services.
Prior to that, he was the General Manager of Finance for KL
International Airport Berhad in 1995.
As for his involvement in the civil sector, he began his career at
the Accountant General Department in Kelantan in 1976 and served as
Chief Accountant of the Ministry of Works and the Ministry of
Education in 1981 and 1983 respectively. He also served as the
Director, Corporate Services, Accountant General Department in 1994.
Rosli obtained his Post Graduate Diploma inAccounting from the
University of Malaya in 1976 and his Master of Business
Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1989.
