One-Day Seminar on Budget 2007 Highlights
On 2 September 2006, a total of 100 participants attended a one-day seminar on
Budget 2007 highlights jointly organized by the Malaysian Institute of
Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysian Institute of Taxation (MIT). Themed
Leveraging Diversity and Endorsements for Quality Growth: The Budget 2007, the
seminar’s objective was to brief members on key budget proposals relating to tax
incentives and their impact on Malaysian businesses. In addition to highlighting
the tax changes in the budget, one of the speakers, Harpal Singh Dhillon
provided an update on recent developments including public rulings on property
development and construction contracts, as well as the latest tax developments
in IRB practices and cases. Another speaker, Chow Chee Yen focused on the impact
of the budget and provided valuable insights as well as suggestions on how
businesses can leverage on the tax planning opportunities offered from Budget
2007. |
